01Get a HALD image
Open it in Capture One (or any editor) and grade it with colour and tone tools only. Leave off sharpening, noise reduction, clarity, vignette, grain, lens corrections and cropping.
Everything runs in your browser. Photos, HALDs and LUTs never leave your computer: no upload, no server, no account.
Made for ordinary sRGB photos, so it sits on the Standard Photo Style. Converted from the collection's level-12 HaldCLUT ("Fuji Superia 400 2") to a 33-point LUT for LUMIX Real Time LUT; the colours are unchanged. Film names describe what the simulation aims for; it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the film makers.
Open it in Capture One (or any editor) and grade it with colour and tone tools only. Leave off sharpening, noise reduction, clarity, vignette, grain, lens corrections and cropping.
Export it at 100% size in sRGB. 16-bit TIFF or PNG gives the smoothest result.
Grain, colour noise, sharpness and noise reduction can be stored in the LUT so the camera sets them when it loads it. Panasonic documents these tags only for newer bodies (such as the LUMIX L10) and doesn't publish the exact format, so your camera may ignore them: check on the camera before relying on them. They need a base Photo Style; “Not set” leaves the camera's own setting alone.
33-point .cube. Copy it to the card or import it with LUMIX Lab, then load it under Real Time LUT.
A pair is one frame twice: the before as the camera renders the base Photo Style, and the after with the look you want. The LUT learns how every colour changes from one to the other.
Photos pair up in file-name order.
This becomes the LUT's base Photo Style, so the camera renders the same before.
More smoothing ignores noise and small mismatches; less follows the pairs more closely.
Drop .cube files you bought or downloaded. Each one is shrunk to 33 points if it's bigger, given a 0–1 input range, and has any 1D shaper built in. Values outside 0–1 are clipped, and names are shortened for the SD card. Everything happens on your computer.
If a LUT is made for Rec.709 (a normal-looking picture, as most creative LUTs are), pick Standard. Keep V-Log only for LUTs made for V-Log footage.
Some LUTs don't say which base they were made for. Pick a base above, or keep each LUT's own base with Standard or V-Log for the rest.
“Keep from file” keeps any of these tags the LUT already has. They need a base Photo Style; “Not set” leaves the camera's own setting alone.

Put several photos together into one image: a collage for Instagram, a moodboard for a shoot, or a contact sheet of a session. Add the photos, choose a size and a layout, and Fill arranges them so every photo keeps its shape and nothing is left empty.
Click a photo to leave it out of the collage without removing it.
Fill and Treemap fit every photo at its own shape with no gaps; Mosaic and Grid use columns.
Photos are previewed through the look; the export runs it on the full-size photos.

Drag a photo onto another to swap them; on a phone, hold first. The tools on each photo hide, resize or remove it.

The short version: your photos and LUTs are processed by your own browser and never sent anywhere. The site counts visits without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
Born Graded is run by Marcin Piwek (Marcin Piwek Fotografia), Wroclaw, Poland, who is the controller of any personal data described here. Contact: piwek.foto@gmail.com.
Everything you open here (photos, HALD images, .cube files and photo pairs) is read and processed by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded: the site has no server-side processing, no account and no database. Saved files go straight from your browser to your downloads.
The site uses no cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps two things you chose, only on your device: your shooting kit and your language. They are never sent to me, and clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.
Fonts are served from this site, not from Google or any other font service.
To learn which looks and tools are used, the site uses Umami Cloud (Umami Software, Inc.), which works without cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records the page, the referring site, the browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and the country worked out from your IP address, plus a few events such as which LUT was downloaded. Your IP address itself is not stored, and visits can't be linked to you or followed across other sites.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is counted. You can also block the script with any content blocker; the site works the same.
The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse. Cloudflare and Umami may process data outside the European Economic Area, in the USA, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of processing, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest.
